Instagram Reel Overview

What is an Instagram Reel?

Instagram Reels are short, vertical videos designed to grab attention and increase reach on Instagram. They can appear in the Reels tab, users’ feeds, and on your profile, making them a powerful format for sharing quick updates, tips, and promotional content.

Can you schedule and publish Instagram Reels in MeetEdgar?

Yes! Edgar supports publishing Instagram Reels, making it easier to share short, engaging video content right from your dashboard.

Before You Start

Instagram Reels can only be posted to Professional (Creator) and Business accounts.

If your profile is still Personal, you’ll need to switch it in Instagram before you can publish Reels through Edgar.

Important: Edgar does not support adding music to Reels at this time.

If your video needs background music, make sure it's already added and finalized before uploading it to Edgar.

How to Create an Instagram Reel

Step 1: Creating a New Post

  1. Go to Create New Content

  2. Choose a Category for your content

  3. Select your Instagram account.

  4. Choose Reel as the content type

Step 2: Upload Your Reel Video

Edgar supports standard Instagram Reel video size limits:

  • Length: Minimum 3 seconds, maximum 18 minutes

  • Video dimensions (Reel size): 1080 × 1920 px (9:16 vertical format)

  • Format: MP4 is recommended

Step 3: Add Your Caption

After your video is uploaded, you can add all the details for your Reel:

  • Write your caption in Edgar’s text box

  • Add hashtags

  • Use emojis or spacing to keep your caption clean and readable

  • Keep your text short and engaging for better viewer retention

Pro tip: You can also use Inky, Edgar’s AI writing assistant, to help you brainstorm or draft your content.

Add a Custom Cover Image (Optional)

You can now upload a custom thumbnail for your Reel to control how it looks on your Instagram grid or profile.

  • File type: PNG or JPG/JPEG

  • Cover size: 1080 × 1920 px (9:16 vertical format)

  • Clear, vertical image recommended for best fit

How to Schedule Instagram Reels in MeetEdgar

Option 1: Save it to your Library and scheduling it through your weekly recurring timeslots, or

Option 2: Choose one of the scheduling options from the dropdown menu (Send Now, Schedule send and save)

Can I schedule Instagram Reels in advance using MeetEdgar?

Yes. You can schedule Reels ahead of time, add them to your Library, or publish them immediately using Send now and save.

What Instagram account types support Reels in MeetEdgar?

Only Professional (Creator) and Business Instagram accounts can publish Reels through MeetEdgar. Personal accounts are not supported.

Does MeetEdgar support adding music to Instagram Reels?

No. MeetEdgar does not currently support adding music. Any background audio must already be included in your video before uploading it to Edgar.
