Have a large amount of content ready to add to Edgar but limited time to upload posts individually? Edgar supports bulk imports, allowing you to efficiently upload multiple posts at once using a CSV file.

Note that bulk import currently supports text and images only; videos and emojis aren’t supported at this time.

How to Bulk Import Content to Edgar

Create Your CSV File

To create your spreadsheet, we recommend using Google Sheets or Numbers (Mac).

We do not recommend Excel, as it may create unreadable characters in CSV files.

Spreadsheet Format Requirements

To make sure Edgar can read your file correctly, follow these rules:

Column A

Post text (including any links)

Column B (optional): Category name

Category names are case-sensitive (e.g., My Blog Postsmy blog posts)

Only include categories that already exist in Edgar

Columns C onward (optional): Image URLs

One image link per column

Up to 10 images per post

Note: Images must be hosted on a publicly accessible site so Edgar can pull them into your posts.

If your images aren’t publicly hosted, use an image hosting service (such as Imgur or Cloudinary) to generate a public image URL.

Important Notes

  1. Bulk import supports images

  2. Bulk import does not support:

    • Videos

    • Emojis in post text

  3. If you use Bit.ly as your link shortener:

    • Limit your CSV file to 100 rows or fewer

    • Larger files may cause links not to shorten correctly due to Bit.ly rate limits

Export Your File as a CSV (UTF-8)

Your file must be saved as a .csv with UTF-8 encoding. Follow the steps below based on the software you’re using.

Google Sheets (Recommended)

  1. Click File

  2. Hover over Download

  3. Select Comma-separated values (.csv, current sheet)

  4. The file will download automatically

Numbers (Mac)

  1. Click File

  2. Hover over Export

  3. Select CSV

  4. Click Advanced Options

  5. Choose Unicode (UTF-8) as the text encoding

  6. Click Next, then Save

Excel (Not Recommended)

Excel can create formatting issues in CSV files.
If your content is already in Excel:

  1. Open a new file in Google Sheets

  2. Copy and paste your content from Excel

  3. Download the file as a CSV from Google Sheets (steps above)

Upload Your CSV File to Edgar

Once your CSV file is ready:

  1. Go to Import

  2. Click Import a spreadsheet

  3. Select your CSV file

  4. Click Import

Edgar will display your posts in a preview list where you can:

  • Assign posts to social accounts

  • Change categories if needed

  • Mark posts as Use Once, if desired

Click Import Content to add everything to your Library.

Network Limitations

Because Instagram and Pinterest require an attached image or video, bulk import is not available for these networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many posts can I bulk import at once?

We recommend limiting your file to 100 rows or fewer to avoid issues when importing your content.

Can I bulk import posts without images?

Yes. Images are optional. You can bulk import text-only posts by filling out Column A and leaving the image columns blank.

Can I upload multiple images for one post?

Yes. You can include up to 10 images per post by placing one public image URL per column.

Why aren’t my images importing?

Images must be hosted on a publicly accessible image hosting site so Edgar can pull them in. Private links or restricted URLs won’t work. If your images aren’t public yet, use an image hosting service like Imgur or Cloudinary to generate public URLs.

Can I bulk import videos?

No. Bulk import currently supports text and images only. Videos must be added manually.

Why aren’t emojis showing up in my imported posts?

Emojis aren’t supported in bulk imports at this time. Be sure to remove any emojis from your post text before uploading your CSV file.

What happens if I add a category that doesn’t exist?

If a category listed in your CSV doesn’t already exist in Edgar, those posts won’t be categorized correctly. Make sure all categories are created in Edgar before importing and that the names match exactly (including capitalization).

Can I edit posts after importing them?

Yes. After the import, all posts appear in your Library, where you can edit text, images, categories, and scheduling settings as needed.

What should I do if my CSV file won’t upload?

Double-check the following:

  • Your file is saved as .csv with UTF-8 encoding

  • Image links are public and valid

  • Emojis and videos are removed
