Social networks regularly require apps like MeetEdgar to re-confirm permission to post on your behalf. This security step is called a refresh, and it’s a normal part of keeping your account connected.

Connections between MeetEdgar and your social channels rely on access tokens, which can expire for several reasons, such as a password change, updated security settings, or a preset token lifespan set by the network.

Why do I need to refresh my account?

You may be asked to refresh an account when:

  • A social network’s security rules require periodic re-authorization

  • A network requires regular refreshes (for example, some networks enforce refresh cycles every few weeks or months)

  • You change your password on the social network

  • The network releases a security or permission update

  • Posting permissions expire or are reset

Refreshing simply re-authorizes the connection so Edgar can continue publishing your content. Your scheduled posts and saved content remain safe.

If an account becomes disconnected, MeetEdgar will notify you by email so you can refresh it.

Basic Account Refresh (Most Accounts)

Before refreshing, make sure you are logged into the correct social network account in your browser.

Examples:

  • Refreshing LinkedIn? Be logged into LinkedIn

  • Refreshing X? Be logged into your X account

How to refresh an account:

  1. Go to Social Media Accounts tab in MeetEdgar

  2. Locate the account that needs refreshing

  3. Click the refresh icon in the top-right corner of the account card

Facebook Pages – Important

For Facebook Pages:

  • You must refresh the personal Facebook profile connected to the Page

  • Pages cannot be refreshed individually

🚫 Do NOT Delete the Account

Deleting an account is never required to refresh or reconnect it.

If you delete an account:

  • Your posting schedule will be removed

  • Content associations will be deleted

  • This action cannot be undone

Always use Refresh, not Delete.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will refreshing my account delete my scheduled posts or content?

No. Refreshing an account will not delete your scheduled posts, saved content, or categories. Everything stays exactly as it is.

Only deleting an account removes schedules and content associations—refreshing simply restores the connection so Edgar can continue publishing.

What happens if I don’t refresh my account?

If an account isn’t refreshed, Edgar won’t be able to publish new posts to that social network until the connection is restored.

How often do accounts need to be refreshed?

It depends on the social network. Some require refreshes on a regular schedule, while others only require it after security changes like password updates or permission resets.

Do I need to refresh all my accounts at the same time?

No. Each social account is refreshed individually. You only need to refresh the account that shows as disconnected.

Why does my account keep disconnecting?

This can happen if:

  • You recently changed your password

  • The social network updated its security settings

  • Permissions were modified or revoked

  • The network requires periodic re-authorization

Why do Facebook Pages need the personal profile refreshed?

Facebook Pages are connected through a personal profile. Refreshing the profile re-authorizes all associated Pages.

What should I do before clicking refresh?

Make sure you’re logged into the correct social network account in your browser—the same one originally connected to MeetEdgar.

Once my account is refreshed, will my posts resume publishing?

Yes. Once the account is successfully refreshed, your posts will automatically resume publishing according to your existing schedule. No further action is needed.
