Different networks have different errors and different reasons that posts may have been rejected.  See some common errors below.

Don't see an explanation for your error? Click the message icon at the bottom right corner of this page and send us your error message.  We'll be happy to take a closer look for you!

X

A few common reasons why a post may fail to publish to X include the following:

  1. Your account requires reauthorization:  If you have recently changed your password or been notified of a security issue with your X acount, you may need to refresh the account to allow Edgar to continue publishing. Refresh Your Social Accounts.

  2. You're attempting to publish a post that is too similar: X prohibits publishing identical or substantially similar posts repeatedly on the same account and across multiple accounts you run.  Make sure you alter the text of your post to make it fully unique.

  3. X has locked your account. You can see common reasons for locked accounts and what to do about them here: X Locked Account Support.

Facebook

A few common reasons why posts may fail to Facebook include the following:

  1. OAuthException: If you receive an OAuthException error, it means that Edgar doesn't have the correct permissions to access your Facebook accounts right now.  The password may have been changed on Facebook or Facebook may have reset your security session.  See our information on Facebook permissions here: Facebook Permissions.

  2. OAuthException, code: 368, message: The content you're trying to share includes a link that our security systems detected to be unsafe. This error indicates that Facebook has flagged the link or image in your post as unsafe.  You can try posting the link or image directly to Facebook to see if they provide any additional information on why they have blocked it.  Or just send us a message and we'll be happy to take a look!

  3. Edgar was unable to find any groups or pages: Edgar doesn't have the correct permissions to access your groups or pages.  See our information on Facebook permissions here: Facebook Permissions.

  4. Unable to access uploaded media: This error can occur from time to time, and it usually indicates that Facebook's servers were unable to receive the attached video or image. This is usually a temporary Facebook communication error, and it means that at the time of publication, Facebook's servers may have received too many media requests at once and did not have the resources to process the video or image. Sometimes Facebook will actually upload the video, so you should first wait a few minutes then check directly on Facebook to see if the video was published. If not, you should reschedule the content for a different time. If the content frequently encounters this error, you should consider reducing the overall file size by lowering the resolution of the video or image.

LinkedIn

  1. Expired Access Token: LinkedIn requires that access tokens be refreshed every 60 days.  You will receive an email notification when it is approaching this time so you can refresh your account. Refresh your LinkedIn account to resolve the error: Refresh Your Social Accounts.

  2. Throttle Limit:  LinkedIn limits the number of posts a single person can publish in a day, which includes all post sources including Edgar, directly to LinkedIn, and any other apps you may use to publish.

Bitly

  1. Error creating bitly links!  Rate Limit Exceeded: Bitly has a limit on how many links can be shortened at one time.  The exact limit is not published, but it's best to limit bulk uploads to fewer than 100 posts at a time when using bitly to shorten your links.  Alternative link shorteners are also avaialble: Edgar's Links Shortening Options.

Pinterest

  1. This content was not sent because there was an error: undefined method `upload_id' for nil:NilClass: Pinterest only accepts videos encoded in H.264 or H.265. iPhones running iOS 11 or later may be set to use HVEC encoding instead. To change this setting on your iPhone to record videos in H.264, see Apple's instructions here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207022

Instagram

  1. Oh dear! This content was not sent because there was an error: type: OAuthException, code: xxxxx, error_subcode: xxxxxxx, message: The aspect ratio is not supported., error_user_title: Invalid Aspect Ratio, error_user_msg: The submitted image with aspect ratio ('xxxx/xxx',) cannot be published. Please submit an image with a valid aspect ratio.

To resolve this issue, you'll need to re-save your content with an image that is saved with a supported aspect ratio:

Square or 1:1 - optimal size is 1080px by 1080px
Landscape or 1.91:1 - optimal size is 1080px wide by 608px tall
Portrait or 4:5 - optimal size is 1080px wide by 1350px tall

  2. type: OAuthException, code: 10, message: (#10) The user is not an Instagram Business, x-fb-trace-id: XXXXXXXX [HTTP 400]

If you receive this error, your Instagram Profile is not a Business account, and cannot be used for direct publishing (only notifications). Personal Profiles and Creator/Professional Profiles are not available for direct posting. You can either switch your Profile to a Business Account, or switch the content to notification-based scheduling.

  3. Oh dear! This content was not sent because there was an error: type: OAuthException, code: 100, error_subcode: xxxxxxx, message: Invalid parameter, error_user_title: Too many tags, error_user_msg: Cannot use more than 30 tags per created media.

Your post was not accepted by Instagram because you included too many hashtags. You can edit your content to stay within the limit of 30 hashtags, and try again.

RSS

  1. Could not find RSS feed: There could be a number of reasons why Edgar isn't able to find an RSS feed, including intermittent server communication issues. You can attempt the import manually by going to the Manage Connections page, clicking the down arrow by your RSS feed, then pressing 'Import Now'. Sometimes, there is a firewall on the site that hosts the feed. In that case, try following the instructions here: Firewall Blocking Edgar
